YOU CAN HELP RANCHO’S CATS!
The Rancho Los Amigos campus in Downey, California has been the home to an estimated 150 mostly feral cats. However, due to repeated public health concerns to the staff and children that regularly occupy the property, all of the cats must be relocated from the Rancho campus. The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control will be capturing the cats located on the Rancho campus. All of these cats will be in need of new homes.
While the majority of the cats at Rancho are feral, some are not. Some of the cats on the campus are actually friendly cats who may have been abandoned by their owners on the campus. But all of them will need a new home and YOU CAN HELP!
If you are interested in helping one of these needy cats you have a couple of options.
You may visit our Downey shelter at 11238 S. Garfield Avenue and see what cats are available. We may have some cats available for adoption as early as Friday, October 31, 2008. The shelter’s hours are Monday through Thursday, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The shelter is closed on Sundays.
Or you can click here or email the Department at animalInfo@animalcare.lacounty.gov and to let us know you are interested in adopting one or more of these cats. Include your contact information and how many cats you are interested in adopting in your email, and we will contact you when we have Rancho cats available.
Lastly, you may make a donation to the Department to help care for the cats. You may make your donation by dropping off or mailing a check to your local County shelter, or to the Department’s Administrative offices at 5898 Cherry Ave, Long Beach, CA, 90805.
Like all animals that the Department impounds, all cats that are adopted from the Rancho campus will be vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
